The original was released by Delain in 2012 and is dedicated to Sophie Lancaster, a young woman who was brutally attacked in England in 2007 by a group of teenagers. The only “reason” for the attack was her alternative appearance, as she wore dark clothing and embraced the gothic lifestyle. Sophie sadly passed away a few days later from her injuries.

This tragic case shocked the world and became a symbol of the dangers of intolerance and prejudice against those who look or think differently. Out of Sophie’s story, the Sophie Lancaster Foundation was created. It continues to promote tolerance, education, and awareness towards subcultures and people who choose to be different.
