The idea for her channel was born during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2019, when more than 30 planned Kalidia shows had to be cancelled. To stay connected with her fans and to create a small additional income stream, she began producing covers. At first they appeared irregularly, but since mid-2024 she has been able to publish a new video every month, thanks to support on Ko-fi.

Since mid-2024, Nicoletta has been releasing one new cover at the end of each month, made possible by her supporters on Ko-fi. Besides rock, pop, folk, and metal classics, she occasionally revisits her own past work with Kalidia and gives it a new twist – for example Frozen Throne in a piano rendition or Queen of the Forsaken in an orchestral version. Nicoletta uploaded her very first cover on April 27, 2019, her birthday. The song was I Have a Right by Sonata Arctica – and it has since become the channel’s most successful video, reaching over 156,000 views as of September 2025.

Founded in late 2022, Alterium unites the voice of Nicoletta Rosellini (ex-Kalidia, Walk in Darkness, The Erinyes) with her former bandmates Paolo Campitelli (guitars) and Dario Gozzi (drums), joined by Alessandro Mammola (guitars, Draconicon) and Luca Scalabrin (bass, Altair). After Kalidia disbanded in 2023, Nicoletta decided to continue with the musicians she trusted most – guitarist Paolo Campitelli and drummer Dario Gozzi – and to complete the lineup with new members who shared her vision. In interviews she has emphasized that Alterium represents what she always wanted Kalidia to be, but which could not be realized with the previous lineup.
