Italian power metal led by singer and songwriter Nicoletta Rosellini. Founded in 2022, Alterium turns mythology and video-game stories into soaring melodies, layered arrangements and powerful guitar riffs.

How It Began
After Kalidia ended, Nicoletta Rosellini, Paolo Campitelli and Dario Gozzi chose to keep making music together. Alessandro Mammola and long-time friend Luca Scalabrin completed the lineup in early 2023.
Alterium gave Nicoletta room to shape the lyrics, vocal melodies and part of the music, alongside the band’s management. The name emerged from weeks of brainstorming: one memorable word with a nod to their Italian and Latin roots.

Musical Identity
Of War and Flames (2024), produced by Freedom Call’s Lars Rettkowitz and released through AFM Records, established Alterium’s melodic power metal with layered arrangements and choirs.
Mythology and video games shape its stories, from Siren’s Call and the title track to Drag Me to Hell and Crossroads Inn.
The independently released Stormrage EP (July 2025) continues this direction. The title track draws on Illidan, Sui on Chinese legend. An orchestral version of Of War and Flames and a cover of Symphony X’s Paradise Lost broaden the sound.
Live Momentum
In 2025, Alterium made their US debut at ProgPower USA and joined Fabio Lione’s Dawn of Victory on tour in Europe. Their first performances in Japan followed in summer 2026.
For Nicoletta, performing is where the emotions written into a song finally reach another person. On stage, that means direct interaction with the crowd, constant movement and choruses made to be sung together.
A Growing Family
Nicoletta wants the songs to offer what music has given her: the feeling of being understood, a little comfort in difficult moments and the freedom to sing without holding back.
That exchange goes beyond the stage. Feedback from listeners helped encourage the band as they built a new name. Shared stories and familiar faces turn individual listeners into a community that gives the music meaning beyond the songs themselves.
A New Dawn Ahead
The songwriting is complete, and Alterium’s second full-length album is nearly finished. Its release is expected in the first half of 2027.
