Walk in Darkness unveil a new visual chapter of their latest album Gods Don’t Take Calls. On March 12, the band premiered the official music video for “Nico Rising”, the opening track of their 2025 album.

The song introduces listeners to the philosophical world that defines the record. Now, with a dedicated music video, this story receives a powerful visual interpretation.

A Song About Origin and Destiny

“Nico Rising” stands at the very beginning of Gods Don’t Take Calls and sets the tone for the entire record. The lyrics reflect themes of identity, heritage and inner awakening.

The narrator carries only a few essential things into the world: a mother’s love, a hidden mystery and a voice searching for meaning. The song moves like a quiet journey through uncertainty, guided by distant stars and the hope that someone, somewhere, is watching with kindness.

Lines such as “I carry with me only what is mine” and “My rising voice to heaven” evoke a sense of spiritual discovery. Rather than offering clear answers, the song invites listeners to reflect on their own place in a universe that often feels silent.

The New Music Video

The official music video for “Nico Rising” was directed by Shaman and Lorenzo Avanzi of AVZ Studios, bringing together cinematic imagery and symbolic storytelling.

Italian dancer Diletta Moschitta, a performer from the Lyric Dance Company in Florence, appears in the video, adding a visual layer of movement and expression that mirrors the emotional tone of the music.

Nicoletta Rosellini delivers the vocal performance that defines the track. Her voice moves between fragility and strength, guiding the narrative of the song while giving life to its poetic imagery.

The title of the song also reflects Nicoletta’s nickname. This is no coincidence, as Shaman wrote the piece as a tribute to her.

The production combines atmospheric visuals with the distinctive sound of Walk in Darkness, where gothic metal, orchestral textures and philosophical lyrics meet.

The World of "Gods Don’t Take Calls"

Released on December 12, 2025, Gods Don’t Take Calls is a conceptual album that reflects on the spiritual condition of the modern world.

Across nine songs, the record explores themes such as loss of meaning, the search for truth and the quiet hope that remains even in times of uncertainty.

Tracks like “No Banners No Glory,” “Chasing the Horizon,” and “Towards Chang’an” explore humanity’s relationship with history, culture and inner balance. Each piece contributes to a broader narrative that questions where humanity is heading in an age shaped by technology and noise.

Within this story, “Nico Rising” serves as the gateway into the album’s universe.

Walk in Darkness

Founded in 2015, Walk in Darkness has built a unique identity within the gothic and symphonic metal scene.

The project is led by Shaman, the composer and conceptual creator behind the band. His vision blends heavy guitars with orchestral arrangements and philosophical themes about human fragility and destiny.

Nicoletta Rosellini, known for her bands Alterium and Kalidia, provides the unmistakable voice of Walk in Darkness. Her expressive vocal style brings both emotional depth and clarity to the band’s storytelling.

She is joined by Monk Key on bass and Arcanus on drums, with longtime collaborator Emiliano Pasquinelli contributing growls that add contrast and intensity.

Apart from Nicoletta, the identities of the band members remain deliberately hidden. Masks and anonymity symbolize the idea that the music represents a universal human story rather than individual personalities.

Nico Rising

Premiere on March 12

The official video for “Nico Rising” premiered on March 12, adding a new visual dimension to one of the most introspective songs from Gods Don’t Take Calls.

For fans of gothic and symphonic metal, the release offers another glimpse into the artistic world that Walk in Darkness continues to develop with each new project.

The video is now available on the band’s official YouTube channel.
