Alterium release their new song “Sui” – a powerful end to a chapter

With the release of “Sui”, Alterium mark the closing of a special chapter in their musical journey. The powerful track is the final unreleased song from the creative phase around their debut album Of War and Flames, a musical conclusion before the door opens to what lies ahead.

Sui – now part of the Stormrage EP

Originally, “Sui” and “Stormrage” were planned as standalone singles to bridge the gap between the first and upcoming second album. Just like “Hear My Voice” and the acoustic version of “Siren’s Call”, these tracks were meant to keep momentum and engagement high. However, reality forced the band to take a different path.

A step into independence

In early 2025, AFM Records ceased operating as a traditional record label and shifted into an online music shop. For many artists, this sudden change meant losing their label home – and Alterium, as a new band with only one album, found themselves in a particularly challenging situation. The long-term plan they had envisioned with AFM, spanning four albums, could no longer continue.

Instead of waiting and hoping, the band chose action. The result was Stormrage, an independent release aimed at reaching new listeners, increasing streams, and strengthening their growing community. It was a bold move, requiring them to take on responsibilities such as promotion, video production, social media strategy, and budgeting. The process was intense, but necessary.

The legend behind “Sui” – mythology meets power metal

The song “Sui” stands out as a true highlight. Inspired by an ancient Chinese legend, it tells the story of a young man guided by a dream from the god Fuxi, who travels to the land of Sui Ming in search of fire. There, he witnesses birds striking the Sui Wood tree to create sparks and learns how to make fire by drilling wood. He brings this knowledge back to his people, transforming their lives with warmth and safety. In gratitude, they name him Sui – the bringer of fire.

Musically, “Sui” is one of the fastest and most energetic tracks the band has ever written. It was already performed live during summer festivals with great audience reactions. Once again, Alterium showcase their ability to blend mythological storytelling with powerful, modern metal and create an immersive atmosphere.

With Sui, a chapter comes to an end – and the next one is already on the horizon. The second studio album is well underway, and the band looks ahead with determination. Until then, Stormrage serves as a strong transitional release – and “Sui” lights the path with a fire that burns beyond the finale.
