With her new cover of Nothing Else Matters, Nicoletta Rosellini brings the year to a powerful and emotional close. The legendary ballad by Metallica is reimagined here in an orchestral setting that places intimacy, vulnerability, and a cinematic atmosphere at the forefront. Rather than aiming for a dramatic reinterpretation, Nicoletta chose a restrained and expressive approach.
As with all releases throughout the year, this cover was made possible thanks to the continued support of Nicoletta’s Ko-fi community. Their contributions help fund production, mixing, and mastering, enabling a consistent release schedule and a high level of quality.
Nothing Else Matters – Metallica
Originally released in 1991 on the self-titled album Metallica, often referred to as the Black Album, Nothing Else Matters marked a defining moment in the band’s career. Written primarily by James Hetfield, the song revealed a deeply personal and introspective side of a band previously known mainly for its uncompromising intensity.
With its simple structure, memorable melody, and honest lyrics, the song quickly transcended genre boundaries. It became one of Metallica’s most recognizable and beloved compositions, reaching a global audience and remaining a staple of the band’s live performances to this day.
Nicoletta’s orchestral interpretation builds on this emotional core, highlighting the song’s fragility and sincerity rather than its scale. The arrangement deliberately focuses on the song’s subtle and emotional nuances, emphasizing the quiet strength that continues to make the original so powerful.

A year of covers – challenges and milestones
Nothing Else Matters also marks the final cover release of 2025 and the successful completion of a goal Nicoletta set for herself at the beginning of the year, releasing one cover every single month.
Despite the challenges that come with independent music production, this goal was achieved. Each release brought a new song, a new atmosphere, and a new interpretation, shaped through close collaboration with the community.
August stood out as a special moment in this journey. Instead of a cover, Nicoletta released a reimagined orchestral version of Queen of the Forsaken, originally written and released with her former band Kalidia. This reinterpretation connected past and present, offering fans a new perspective on a song deeply rooted in her musical history.
Not every month was without setbacks. In March, the metal cover of Heaven was unfortunately removed from YouTube due to copyright reasons. While disappointing, this moment highlighted the realities of publishing cover songs on major platforms and made the achievement of a complete release year even more meaningful.
Looking ahead – January brings Amaranthine
With the year now complete, attention turns to the first release of the new year. In January, Nicoletta will present a cover of Amaranthine by Amaranthe.
For the first time, the community was directly involved in selecting a male guest vocalist for the song. Supporters were invited to apply, and after careful consideration, a collaborator has already been chosen. This marks an exciting new step, expanding the collaborative aspect of the cover series and opening the door to fresh vocal dynamics.
With Nothing Else Matters, Nicoletta delivers not only an emotional and carefully crafted cover, but also a fitting conclusion to an ambitious project for this year.
The orchestral interpretation reflects artistic growth, consistency, and focus, while the close involvement of the Ko-fi community continues to shape every release.
