Foul & Fair by Le Tre Disgrazie – A Dark Tribute to Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Le Tre Disgrazie return with a haunting new piece, Foul & Fair, a darkly cinematic song inspired by William Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy, Macbeth. The work reimagines the world of the three witches, the mysterious “Weird Sisters” who blur the line between truth and illusion, fate and desire.

The title itself draws from one of the play’s most famous lines, “Fair is foul, and foul is fair,” capturing the essence of duality and deception that defines Macbeth. Through powerful choral layers, gothic orchestration, and theatrical performance, Foul & Fair transforms Shakespeare’s vision into an atmospheric soundscape where prophecy and destiny intertwine.

A Collaboration of Art and Passion

The music was composed and arranged by Irene Shapes, with lyrics written by Nicoletta Rosellini. Together with Eleonora Damiano, they embody the three sisters, performing amidst the ancient beauty of La Rocca di San Leo, a setting that amplifies the song’s eerie yet majestic atmosphere.

The video was directed by Matteo Ermeti, whose artistic vision captures both the grandeur of the fortress and the haunting landscapes of Majolo. His direction transforms the medieval locations into a stage where theatre, music, and myth merge seamlessly.

Visually, the video bridges the worlds of theatre and gothic art, evoking a sense of ritual and timeless mysticism. Every frame feels like a living painting, echoing the darkness and grandeur of Shakespeare’s narrative.
